Where to Eat

The Gore District offers dining to suit every palate and, with an abundance of locally grown farm-fresh produce, the quality and flavour of the food is exceptional.

Whether it is fine dining at the Thomas Green or a hearty mince pie from the Oven Fresh Bakery, there is plenty to chose from.

The Gore District is in the heart of a licensing trust, which means most of the restaurants and bars are owned and run by the Mataura Licensing Trust. Each year this community-owned organisation returns up to $1 million in grants and sponsorship to the community from its operational profits and gaming machine revenue.

The MLT also provides all the off-licence alcohol sales in the District. Wine and beer is not available in supermarkets.
