Gore District Ambassador

The Gore District Ambassador is an opportunity for young people living in the Gore District to share their passion for the District and promote its many attributes.

A major draw card is the winner's prize package worth more than $3500, including a 5-day trip to Gore’s sister city Tamworth. There is also a smaller prize package for the runner up.

For all entrants, there is much to be gained from the skills learnt in the process. All entrants have to create a video, speak in public, and complete interviews wit the judging panel. There is also a prize for the best promotional video competition.


Entrants must:

  • Be eligible to reside in New Zealand, male or female, aged 18-35 years, as at 31 December 2017.
  • Reside permanently within the Gore District catchment [PDF, 678 KB] for the duration of the role (until May 2018), or otherwise demonstrate a substantial connection to the District.
  • Have the ability to be an ambassador for the Gore District when outside of Gore.
  • Be committed to raising the profile of and promoting the Gore District, including attending the Hokonui Fashion Design Awards, the Southern Field Days, and events associated with the NZ Gold Guitar Awards.
  • Be sponsored by their employer, a business, club or a community organisation. Sponsorship cost is $100 (The Council can assist with finding a sponsor if necessary).

NB: Entrants can be a contestant from a previous Ambassador competition but cannot have been a previous winner.

Prize includes

Return trip to Tamworth with spending money, plus vouchers supplied by Gore District businesses, adding to more than $3,500 value.

NB: any prizes won at the awards are not transferable.
