Gore District Ambassador

Congratulations to 2016 Gore District Ambassador Vanessa Harvey and runner up Rosie Alderton. if you would like either of these women to talk to your club or organisation, or be involved in an event you are running, please contact our Events and Promotions Coordinator Emma Carle.

The Gore District Ambassador is an opportunity for young people living in the Gore District to share their passion for the District and promote its many attributes.

Whether they win the title or not, being involved in the competition is a personal growth opportunity with a wide range of skills required.

As well as the skills and opportunities gained from winning the title, a major drawcard is the prize package worth more than $3500 including a 5-day trip to Gore’s sister city Tamworth.

The Gore District Ambassador (previously Gore Gold Guitars Young Ambassador) was established in 2006 and replaced the Miss NZ Gold Guitar event held as part of the New Zealand Gold Guitar Awards.

Criteria

Entrants must:

  • Be eligible to reside in New Zealand, male or female, aged 18-35 years, as at 31 December 2016
  • Reside permanently within the Gore District catchment [PDF, 678 KB] for the duration of the role (until May 2017), or otherwise demonstrate a substantial connection to the District.
  • Have the ability to be an ambassador for the Gore District when outside of Gore.
  • Be committed to raising the profile of and promoting the Gore District, including events associated with the NZ Gold Guitar Awards, the Hokonui Fashion Awards, and the Southern Field Days.
  • Be sponsored by their employer, a business, club or a community organisation. Sponsorship cost is $100 (The Council can assist with finding a sponsor if necessary).

NB: Entrants can be a contestant from a previous Ambassador competition but cannot have been a previous winner.

Prize includes:

Return trip to Tamworth with spending money, plus vouchers supplied by Gore District businesses, adding to more than $3,500 value.

NB: any prizes won at the awards are not transferable.
