Planning / Resource Management

Planning and resource management play a major role in ensuring the Gore District's environmental assets are managed well. The Gore District Plan contains policies, rules and other requirements that control land use and subdivision and can affect what people are able to do.

The Council's planning team is always available to assist with any enquiries you may have. You can email Consultant Planner Keith Hovell or Resource Management Planner Rosie Given or phone 03 209 0330.

Consultation on proposal to set fees

Recent amendments to the Resource Management Act 1991 have created two new activities which require processing charges. These are:

  • Boundary activities – the Council must deem ‘boundary activities’ to be permitted where the correct information and written approval of the relevant neighbour(s) is provided; and
  • Marginal/temporary activities – the Council may deem ‘marginal or temporary activities’ to be permitted where: sufficient information is provided; and the effects of the activity are no different in character, intensity, or scale as a permitted activity; and the adverse effects on any person are less than minor.

These new activities will enable some restricted discretionary activities within the District Plan to be deemed permitted. The Council currently process such activities as ‘minor landuse’ resource consents.   These new processes are similar to its existing ‘minor landuse’ consent applications.

Is is proposed to apply a fixed fee of $210.00 (inclusive of GST)  to these activities.
