Eccles St playground to get a makeover
The toddler / small children area at the District’s most popular playground is getting a make-over.
New playground equipment is being installed together with a new playground base at the Eccles Street playground, in Gore.
“This work will hugely improve the look and feel of the playground. The existing playground is approximately 25 years old and has outlived its life,” says Parks and Recreation Manager Ian Soper.
The existing modular play equipment will be dismantled and removed. The soft fall bark will be removed and repurposed elsewhere. A new modular play unit will be installed, and a rubberized soft fall product installed as a base.
The new play equipment will cost about $49,000.
The upgrade will be paid for with money set aside in the District’s Long-Term Plan for playground replacements as needed.
The play area within the fence will be closed between Monday 21 October and Friday 15 November so work can take place.
