Level 1 Services and Facilities

 Our Opening Hours

The Council's main office and Gore Library are returning to normal hours. 

  • Council main office hours effective from Friday 29 May - open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8.30am - 5.00pm. Thursday 9.00am - 5.00pm 
  • Gore Library - open Friday 29 May 11.00am - 4.00pm. From Tuesday 2 June opening hours will be Monday to Friday 9.30am - 5.00pm, Sunday 1.00pm - 4.00pm
  • Gore Multisports Complex (Gore Aquatic Centre & MLT Event Centre) - Monday to Friday 6.00am - 8.00p. Saturday 13 June CLOSED and Sunday 1.00pm - 4.00pm due to staff rosters, then back to normal hours the following weekend
  • Gore Visitor Centre - Monday to Friday 9.00am - 5.00pm
  • Mataura Library - Monday to Friday 1.00pm – 4.00pm



Important Details 


At the Gore Library

  • Children are welcome back to the library.
  • Computers, newspapers and printing service will be available.
  • Call and collect loans on request
  • Cash or EFTPOS payment methods accepted
  • Storytime will resume in Term Three

At the Gore Aquatic Centre

  • No bookings required
  • All entry and exits points revert back to the main complex entrance. 
  • Earlybird and evening Aqua classes will not resume until term 4. 
  • All equipment will be made available to public, with the exception of hire goggles, snorkels, masks and toys in the pre-school area. 
  • Inflatable fun will resume on Saturday 20 June, 1.30pm – 5.00pm.
  • Cubbies, shower and the hydrotherapy pool will re-open.
  • Stadium changing rooms will re-open.
  • Contact tracing is no longer however, the Sine Pro app QR code will be displayed for those wishing to use it for recording their movements.
  • Please keep to your hygiene routines, hand sanitiser will be available throughout the complex.  Remember if you are sick please stay home.



  • The Eastern Southland Gallery and Hokonui Moonshine Museum are closed for earthquake strengthening and refurbishment, respectively.


Gore Transfer Station / Wheelie Bin Collection

Normal winter hours. These are:

  • Monday to Friday 10.30am - 5.00pm
  • Saturday 10.30am - 4.00pm
  • Sunday 12 noon - 4.00pm

The Mataura transfer station is open as per normal hours  ie Sunday 11.00am - 4.00pm 


Wheelie Bin Collections

Recycling and rubbish collection services continue as normal.

  • The Gore Garden Club has cancelled all monthly meetings until further notice.
