This page has information about the Gore District Council's response to COVID-19 and what is happening in our District. For national information, please go to the Government's Unite Against COVID-19 website


Level 1 Information 

Customers at all our facilities and offices will have to sign in using the Government's contact tracer app or on a form. We also ask people to maintain 2 metres social distancing

We will maintain normal opening hours, and encourage customers to use contactless payment methods 

Here’s a few other things you should know.

Main Office

  • There will be a tray for people to drop off rates payments

Gore Library

  • Children aged 8-13, if confident and independent, now able to visit the library for up to one hour without adult supervision. Children up to age seven must be actively supervised.
  • Call and collect is available
  • Children's programmes will restart Monday 12 October
  • Other events will be advertised

Services back to normal are:

  • APNK public computers and WiFi
  • Printing/photocopying
  • Newspapers
  • JP service at Gore Library on Wednesdays 6.30pm - 7.30pm

Gore Multisports Complex Update

  • Contact tracing is still in place
  • Tables and chairs are back in place
  • No restrictions on the number of people in the complex
  • Spectators are welcome back
  • The main entrance is open for all areas of the complex, i.e. ice rink, swimming pool and stadium
  • There's access to all showers 
  • No bookings are needed for the leisure pool or aquarobics classes
  • Pool toys are back, as are the full supply of aqua belts and floating boards
  • Inflatables will be back at the weekend and holidays
  • Swimming lessons will start in the first week of the holidays
  • No restriction on court numbers
  • All equipment is available to be used
  • Laser tag and archery tag will be back up and running


Ice Sport Southland Ice Rink

Ice Sports Southland owns and operates the ice skating rink.  While an integral part of the Gore Multisports Complex, the rink is run independently from the Gore District Council’s Gore Aquatic Centre and MLT Event Centre.

Council staff assist Ice Sports Southland with bookings and over the counter payments.  However, they are not responsible for the overall operation and management of the rink.

Gore Transfer Station

  • Limit to one vehicle in at a time
  • Vehicle registrations will be recorded against your transaction for contract tracing purposes.
  • Fees still apply.   Contactless payments is the preferred payment method i.e. card payments.
  • Kerbside wheelie bin collection continues as usual


 Parks and Playgrounds

  •  All playgrounds and reserves are open
  • Dolamore Park is open, but camping isn’t allowed
