The Ultimate Guide to Recycling in the Gore District
Glass

Glass bottles and jars can be recycled via kerbside collection in Gore and Mataura. Items need to be clean and lids removed. Items go in the yellow bin, which is collected every four weeks.
We do not accept drinking glasses or Pyrex.

Aluminium Tins and Cans

Keep the tabs on drinking cans and ensure tins (such as baked bean tins) are cleaned. Aerosol cans ARE NOT accepted.
They can be dropped at the following locations:
- Gore Transfer Station (24 Toronto Street, Gore)
- Mataura Community Centre (McQueen Ave, Mataura)
- Pakeke Lions Gore (117 Hokonui Drive, Gore)
Cardboard

Make sure the cardboard is clean and dry. Remove any foil or plastic lining. This can include clean pizza boxes.
Cardboard can be dropped at the following locations:

- Mataura Community Centre (McQueen Ave, Mataura)
- Pakeke Lions Gore (117 Hokonui Drive, Gore)
Paper and Books

Clean, dry paper, larger than the size of an envelope can be recycled. This includes newspapers, office paper, envelopes and magazines.
Paper and books can be dropped at the following locations:

Soft plastics

Soft plastics from bread bags, fresh produce, frozen food, cereal, courier bags, dry pet food and more can be recycled in Gore.

- Woolworths Gore (5/9 Irwell Street, Gore)
Milk Bottles

Clean see-through milk bottles can be recycled. Please remove lids and dispose of them in the labelled containers onsite. Light shielding milk bottles or plastic bottles can't be recycled at this stage.

Batteries

A range of batteries can be recycled so long as they are not damaged or modified. Car battery contacts need to be taped before dropping off.

Liquid Paperboard Packaging (TetraPack)

Packaging should be rinsed, cut open and flattened. All associated plastics such as lids and straws should stay on / in the packaging.

Green Waste

Greenwaste includes items such as grass clippings, dead leaves, branches and twigs, dead flowers, weeds, and other plants.
It is free to dispose of a small trailer of greenwaste (under 100kg) at the following locations:
- Gore Transfer Station (24 Toronto Street, Gore)
- Mataura Transfer Station (Henderson Park Road, Mataura)
