$2 buses to ILT Kidzone
Travelling to ILT Kidzone will be cheap as chips for Gore District families this year, with bus rides only $2 per person return to Invercargill.
The Gore District Council and Gore Blue Light have teamed up to subsidise buses to the opening day of the festival, on Wednesday 8 July.
ILT Kidzone is an activities and entertainment event aimed at under 13-year-olds and attracts more than 10,000 people from all over Southland each year.
Gore District Council events and promotions coordinator Emma Carle said ILT Kidzone was a fantastic event for the region and hoped as many children as possible from the Gore District would be able to take advantage of the bus service and attend.
"Seats are limited, so it's first in first served.
"It's in the school holidays so hopefully this will help some parents with their plans for that period," Ms Carle said.
All children under 14 would need to be accompanied by an adult, both to board the bus and to attend the festival. Gore Blue Light staff will be on hand to make sure this is adhered to, she said.
Buses will depart from the Gore trout statue reserve at 9.30am and then Mataura Railway Station at 9.45am, arriving in Invercargill in time for the Kidzone Festival start at 10.30am. They would depart Invercargill at 3.45pm following the close of the festival.
"The buses won't wait, so make sure you're there early."
Bus tickets can be purchased from the Gore Visitor Centre or the Mataura Service Centre until Monday 6 July at 10.00am. Tickets for ILT Kidzone are $14 per person and can be purchased from the ILT Kidzone website.
