Gore District Ambassador finalists announced

The six entrants in this year’s Gore District Ambassador will find out this week what’s in store for the competition.

The entrants are Torrone Smith, sponsored by Westpac Bank; Stephanie Goatley, sponsored by Spark; Rachel Dickie, sponsored by GrassCo; Megan MacBeth, sponsored by Soroptimist International of Gore; Nicole Parry, sponsored by Jade School of Dance; and Amber Geerlings, sponsored by Gore Toastmasters.

Gore District Mayor Tracy Hicks said it was really encouraging to see the number and quality of young people putting their name forward.

“It looks like it’s going to be a fantastic competition. And it’s a huge opportunity for those who have chosen to compete.”

Gore District Council Events and Promotions Coordinator Emma Carle said it was pleasing to see businesses and community groups have got behind the idea of sponsoring entrants.

“With their support and the strength of contestants it’s going to be an exciting competition.’’

Contestants will have rounds of judging prior to the finals night, which is open to the public.

The finals night will be held at the Heartland Hotel Croydon on Thursday 21 May at 7.00pm.

MC for the evening will be Tom Conroy, of Cue TV, and there will be entertainment provided by Vanessa Harvey and Jane Matthews.

A light supper and refreshments are included in the ticket price.

Tickets are $10 and will be on sale at the Gore Visitors Centre from Monday 4 May.
