Mataura Community Board extraordinary vacancy filled
A former Mataura Borough Councillor has stepped up to fill the extraordinary vacancy on the Mataura Community Board, created by a lack of nominations in the recent local body elections.
Geoff Colvin was the only nomination for the vacancy and will be sworn in in the New Year.
He served one term as a borough councillor from 1986 to 1989, just prior to the amalgamation of the Mataura and Gore boroughs into the Gore District Council.
Mataura born and bred, Mr Colvin is a technical compliance manager for the Alliance Group at its Mataura plant.
He joins Alan Taylor, Christian Duffy, Linda Sinclair and Barbara Cunningham on the community board.
