Mayor urges people to vote for Gore's NZGT finalist Jenny
Gore District Mayor Tracy Hicks is urging people to take full advantage of the chance to put the Gore District centre stage nationally by voting for Jenny Mitchell in the grand finale of New Zealand’s Got Talent.
The 14-year-old St Peter’s College student has been wowing the judges and audiences on NZGT since her first audition. Jenny’s semi-final performance of an original Ain’t Coming Back was a vote winner and now it is crunch time, after her appearance in the grand finale last night.
Mr Hicks hopes the Gore District gets right behind her and votes. It was not about liking country music but about supporting a local teenager realise her dream, he said.
“Everyone has a cellphone these days, so there’s no excuse not to vote.”
Mr Hicks said Jenny has been a great ambassador for the District.
“We know we have outstanding young people in Gore, now the rest of the country knows it as well.”
Voting is as easy as texting Jenny to 8981. Voting closes at midnight tonight (Monday).
