Taha consent hearing likely to be in Mataura
The Gore District Council has received 63 submissions on Taha Fertiliser Industries’ retrospective land use consent application, with almost half of the submitters wanting to speak at a hearing.
The application relates to the storage of up to 10,000 tonnes of Ouvea Premix and 8 tonnes of ammonia sulphate at the former Mataura paper mill.
Of the submissions received, 30 people have indicated they want to speak at a hearing. Two days have been set down for the hearing - Tuesday May 12 and Wednesday May 13 - and it is likely to be held in Mataura.
Now that all the submissions are in, they will be collated and Council staff will write a report for independent hearing commissioners Colin Weatherall and David Pullar, who have been appointed to hear submissions on the application.
