TB control operation for the Hokonuis
A programme to reduce possum numbers over approximately 10,000ha of public and private land along the Hokonui Hills, near Gore, for the purposes of Bovine Tuberculosis control, will start in May.
The operation will commence with two applications of non-toxic cereal prefeed pellets followed by the aerial application of cereal pellets containing 1080, on or after 12 May.
Vector Control Services, which is carrying out the work, will place warning signs immediately prior to commencing the aerial application of toxin.
The area being targeted is in the Southland District but borders the Gore District.
