Water Shutdown - North Gore

Water will be shut down to residents in the north-west Gore area on Wednesday 6 July while the water main to Windsor Park Retirement Village is upgraded.

For most residents the shutdown will be from 9.00am to 12.00pm. For Reaby Road and Waimea Street residents the water will be off until 5.00pm.

In case of bad weather, the shutdown will happen on Thursday 7 July.

Gore District Council 3 Waters Asset Manager Matthew Bayliss said residents should plan ahead by making sure they have drinking water stored and doing washing ahead of the shutdown period.

Care also needed to be taken when water was turned back on, he said.

β€œIt is possible the water will be discoloured and residents will need to run a tap for a while to clear the lines.”

He also recommended that residents avoided using their washing machines until the following day.

A thorough planning process had been undertaken to make sure everything was in place for the shutdown and contractors would be working hard to get the job done as quickly as possible, Mr Bayliss said.
