Updated Guide to Support Gore’s Older Residents
The Living Well in Later Years booklet—your go-to guide for local services and social connections—has been refreshed for 2025.
Originally created by the Gore District Council’s Ready for Living team in 2023, this guide was produced after hearing that many older residents weren’t aware of all the support and activities available to them. It provides essential information on medical services, support for independent living, community organisations, and ways to stay socially connected.
“We’ve had fantastic feedback from organisations who say this guide fills an important gap. People really appreciate having all this information in one place,” says Suzie Bruce, Ready for Living Lead.
Now in its third edition, the 2025 update includes new sections on optometry and physiotherapy services—such as pelvic health—along with important details on enduring power of attorney.
You can pick up a copy from medical centres, retirement villages, and Council facilities across the district. You can also click here to view the online version. If you’d like a printed copy sent to you, just get in touch with Suzie Bruce on 021 198 0480.
Looking ahead, the team is exploring an online version to make the guide even more accessible.
This initiative is all about ensuring Gore’s older residents have the information they need to live well and stay connected. If you have suggestions for future updates, the Ready for Living team would love to hear from you.
