The Gore District Council is looking for a Parks Team Leader to head our dedicated parks and reserves team, and support it in achieving a high standard of work. You will also assist with day-to-day administrative duties and lead the team when the parks operations supervisor is on leave.
As a team leader for the parks department, you will lead the team and develop strong working relationships with staff, the public, and contractors. The role also requires being able to carry out a wide variety of horticultural tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Supervision: Lead and support the team to achieve high standards of work.
- Health and Safety: Promote a strong Health and Safety culture within the team.
- Horticulture Maintenance: Monitor and maintain the district’s horticulture areas.
- Nursery Operations: Oversee the council’s plant nursery, soil screening, and garden composting operations.
- Administrative Duties: Handle timesheets, purchase orders, and public queries.
About You.
- Relevant qualification in Horticulture.
- Experience working in horticultural or general garden maintenance.
- Experience in the use of hand-operated gardening machinery and agrichemicals
- Be able to train and develop a strong team.
- Strong administration and computer skills.
- An appropriate driver’s license with endorsements.
