Gore Aquatic Centre is seeking dedicated and vigilant Lifeguards to join our team. This critical role involves ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our patrons by proactively supervising the pool environment and managing incidents effectively. Lifeguards are responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness and customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Actively monitor aquatic facilities and interact with patrons to ensure a safe environment.
- Respond quickly and efficiently to patrons in difficulty, ensuring safety for all.
- Report hazards, accidents, or injuries immediately to supervisors.
- Promote the facility and ensure customer satisfaction.
- Assist with the running of programs and events, including setting up equipment.
- Maintain the facility's cleanliness and hygiene.
- Undertake additional duties as required by the Pool Operations Supervisor or Aquatic Services Manager.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Essential: Understanding of good customer service, good communication skills, ability to relate well to people of all ages.
- Desirable: Experience in customer service, New Zealand Pool Lifeguard Practising Certificate, Workplace First Aid Certificate.
Specific Skills:
- Maintain water fitness and be confident in rescue techniques and first aid.
- Ability to monitor aquatic activities and ensure safety.
- Work towards Aquatics Level 3 Qualification.
- Ability to deal with the public and provide excellent customer service.
- Flexibility to assist with other duties during busy periods.
- Demonstrate and lead health and safety practices.

- Willingness to learn and improve.
- Positive attitude and work ethic.
Additional Information:
- Lifeguards are required to maintain the pools in a clean and hygienic condition.
- The pool staffing roster will be circulated two weeks in advance.
- Lifeguards must notify the Aquatic Operations Supervisor if unable to work a shift and find a replacement with prior approval.
- Participate in civil defence training programs.
