Gore water supply disruption
The Gore District Council will be stopping water flow from the East Gore reservoir to all of Gore on Wednesday 10 February, at around 11.00pm. The reservoir will be isolated for about six hours.
The Hilbre Ave water treatment plant will continue to operate during this time. However we expect the work to result in a drop in water pressure in parts of the network, with some households and businesses potentially having no water during this period. For this reason, we have scheduled the work to happen during the night to minimise disruption to our customers.
When the water supply is restored, residents may have issues with discoloured water. If this happens, residents should run their water for a few minutes. This should flush out the pipeline. If the water is still discoloured on Thursday morning, please call us and we will arrange to flush the network.
We are working with the Gore Fire Brigade to ensure contingency plans are in place for fire-fighting purposes during this period.
We are isolating the reservoir water supply to install new pipework associated with our water treatment plant upgrade project.
Should there be any unforeseen issues preventing this work being completed on Wednesday, it will be carried out at the same time on Thursday.
While we are endeavouring to complete all the necessary work in one shutdown, another shut down may be required. If this is the case, we have scheduled the work for Wednesday 17 February at 11.00pm. We will let you know if a second shutdown is needed.
