New Temperature & Time Clock for Gore
Gore is to get a new temperature display gauge in the Main Street within the next couple of months.
Councillors this week signed off on the new LED temperature and time display after it was revealed fixing the old gauge would be too costly.
The old temperature display was removed in April for repairs. At the time is was discovered the clear cover had been missing for about three months.
Technicians found the exposure of the electronics to the weather during this time had caused considerable damage.
Due to the gauge’s age, it was likely some parts would be unavailable and the cost to fix it would be more than the original purchase price of $6,500.
A new LED message display board, showing both the time and temperature, would cost $2,690.
Mataura may also be in line to get a new temperature and time display board. Options for replacing the Mataura town clock, which hasn’t been working for about 18 months, are to be discussed by the Mataura Community Board.
