Gore’s 2022 Santa festivities taking shape

It's that time of year again, the Gore Santa Parade and Christmas Carnival are coming to town. They will be held on Sunday 11 December, starting with the parade down Main Street at 12 noon.

Spectators will have plenty of opportunity to see Santa, with lots of room to spread out on both sides of the street.

The parade starts in Ordsall Street, then makes its way down Main Street, past McDonalds to the end of Fairfield Street, before lopping around and returning up Main Street on the opposite side.

Gore District Council Events Coordinator Jessica Swan said, “she was delighted with the number of float registrations.”

“We’re thrilled to see last year’s cancellation hasn’t impacted people’s desire to get involved in this much-loved community event.”

“The parade is the perfect way to get out in front of the community and share some festive cheer.”

Registrations for the Santa Parade have closed, but Miss Swan encouraged people to get in touch if they had missed out.

“Don’t panic, just contact us at [email protected] as soon as possible and we’ll see if we can sort something out.”

The Christmas Carnival in Gore Gardens will follow the parade.

With lots of free children’s activities, live entertainment, and plenty of food trucks to choose from, it’s the perfect way to fill your Sunday afternoon, said Miss Swan

“Those who are lucky enough may even get to see Santa in person.”

The carnival is on from 12:30pm to 3:00pm.

“We’re all well overdue a bustling holiday season, so make sure you come along for a great family friendly day out.”

Irwell Street will be closed to road users, between Fairfield and Ardwick streets, to provide pedestrian access between the gardens and Gore Main Reserve for the day.

“Main Street will also be closed for a few hours. People should account for this when travelling through town or parking outside their favourite local shops and cafes.”
