Last Chance to Redeem Free Flood Cleanup Vouchers
The Gore District Council is to discontinue allowing free dumping of household items damaged in September's flooding.
The Council has accepted almost 8.5 tonnes of flood-damaged items at the Gore Transfer Station since significant rainfall on Thursday 21 September overwhelmed stormwater networks.
While flood water entered only one home, numerous garages and outbuildings were affected. St Peters College was also significantly affected by flood waters.
After the event, the Council offered free dumping at the transfer station to help those in need. People were given a docket to present to qualify.
Thirty-eight dockets have been presented to date. Anyone who still has a docket has until next Saturday (11 November) to redeem it.
Residents are reminded that the offer is only for flood-affected items, and not general household rubbish.
