Tamariki Takeover Tulloch
Parks Week is back for 2024 and this year Tulloch Park, in Mataura, will host the celebrations with a fun, family day out.
Tulloch Takeover! will be held on Saturday 2 March, from 11:00am to 2:00pm.
The day will include free face painting, a free sausage sizzle, pirate dress up in the playground, chalk art, basketball and Active Southland’s Playler.
Gore District Council Senior Events Coordinator Jessica Swan said in the past Parks Week has focused on scavenger hunts.
“With such an amazing playground, pump track and basketball court in Mataura, we really wanted to play to Tulloch Parks’ strengths.
“We’ll have pirate hats for kids, lots of colourful chalk for those wanting to decorate everything around them, basketballs to shoot hoops and The Big Yellow Paintbox will be there with its amazing face paint designs, all for free.”
Parks Week is an international initiative in association with Recreation Aotearoa, focusing on the positive influence that being in parks and open spaces brings to people’s lives. Events will be held across New Zealand and Australia from Saturday 2 – Sunday 10 March to celebrate.
Miss Swan said she was looking forward to working with Active Southland.
“Its team is such a joy to work with on events like these and the Playler is so much fun. It’s full to the brim with play items for kids to just get stuck into and create all sorts of games with their friends.”
Join the fun at Tulloch Takeover! in the playground at Tulloch Park, from 11:00am – 2:00pm on Saturday 2 March. Free entry and all are welcome.
