Freeze Ya Bits Off Busking returns for 2024!
Buskers are set to hit the streets of Gore this King’s Birthday Weekend. Free to attend, this event is an opportunity for local artists to showcase their talent, win the audience’s hearts and compete to take home a share of the $6,000 prize pool.
The Gore District Council’s Senior Events Coordinator Jessica Swan said busking registrations were quickly filling up.
“We’re thrilled to be seeing so many new names registering and can’t wait to see what they bring to the event.”
This year’s programme has changed to see the two audition slots both held on the Saturday.
“This will be a great way for attendees to see as many buskers as possible and offer more flexibility for those wanting to compete in the MLT Gold Guitar auditions too.”
Attendees can watch school’s busking from 11:00am Friday 31 May and the busking auditions from 10:00am till 2:00pm on Saturday 1 June, along Main and Irk streets.
The free event continues with the grand final at the SBS St James Theatre from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday 2 June.
“Come along and cheer on the buskers as they go head-to-head to win major cash prizes and gorgeous trophies, thanks to sponsorship from Van de Waters Jewellers. It’s a great opportunity to take the family or friends out for a concert and support the local businesses who help make these events happen” Miss Swan said.
Buskers can register online at GoreNZ.com/events up until the day of the competition.
