Parking infringement fees to increase
A decision from Central Government to raise parking infringement penalties will come into effect from Tuesday 1 October.
We have a range of tools available to simplify parking and help avoid penalties.
One of the easiest ways to manage your parking is by installing the PayMyPark app, which offers several convenient benefits for drivers:
· Only pay for the time you need: The app allows you to pay as you go, meaning there’s no need to guess how long you'll need to park.
· Stay in control: The app can send you an alert when your paid parking is about to expire, giving you the option to extend your time remotely (within time restrictions).
· Don’t pay for unused time: If you finish your errands early, you can stop your parking session and get a refund for the unused time when using the app's Stop-Start mode.
· Easy for businesses: Companies can manage parking for multiple vehicles through one account, making parking costs simple to track.
By using the PayMyPark app, you can avoid overstaying fees and enjoy the flexibility of paying only for what you use.
For those with mobility issues, the Council is also urging residents to apply for a mobility card to access designated mobility parking spaces legally and avoid substantial fines.
“These parks are essential for people who need easier access to facilities,” said Frances Shepherd, Regulatory Services Manager. “Registering for a mobility card ensures that those who genuinely need these spaces can use them.”
