Mataura Library Celebrates Return to Normal Hours
After months of operating on reduced hours, the Library team are excited to announce that the Mataura Library and Service Centre will return to normal opening hours of 10:00am – 5:00pm on 7 October. The Library will also no longer be closing for lunch.
The hiring of a new position, alongside a realignment of previous roles, has made this possible. Working alongside both Libraries is the newly formed Community Connections team (pictured).
The return to normal hours comes as part of a broader vision to enhance the services offered by the Library. Working alongside both Mataura and Gore Libraries the team will develop, plan and deliver a wider variety of activities.
The goal is to build stronger connections with the community and ensure the library is a welcoming place for everyone.
Libraries Manager Emma Sherie is excited about the change.
"We’re really looking forward to welcoming more of the community back into the library. The return to normal hours is just the beginning – with the new team in place, we’re focusing on building connections and creating programs that cater to a wide range of interests.”
The library's new emphasis on community engagement reflects its commitment to evolving with the community's needs. By offering a more diverse range of services, the team hopes to attract new visitors and strengthen partnerships with local groups and organisations.
“The Community Connections team will play a vital role in making our libraries a hub for learning, creativity, and social interaction," Emma said
"Whether it’s through events, workshops, or just providing a space for people to connect, we’re excited to see how the library can further enrich the lives of those in the district."
People are invited to visit the Mataura Library and Service Centre on 7 October for a special celebration. There will be a storytime session at 10:30am followed by a free community BBQ from 11:30am to 12:30pm.
