Workshops

Council hold workshops as part of an educative phase for the Council's decision-making process and provide an opportunity for discussion between elected members and staff. Workshops can not be used as decision-making forums, although used to provide appropriate background information and knowledge they need in order to make informed decisions for the District.

As some matters discussed at the workshops can contain information of a sensitive nature or issues that require negotiations, workshops will be held with the public excluded with reasons as listed as per Section 7 of the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987.

Grounds under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act 1987

Section 7(2)(h) - the withholding of the information is necessary to enable [the Council] to carry out, without prejudice or disadvantage, commercial activities.

Section 48(1)(a)(i) - the public conduct of the relevant part of the proceedings of the meeting would be likely to result in the disclosure of information for which good reason for withholding would exist under section 7.
