Simpli - Simpler, Faster Building Consents

You can apply for a building consent through the Simpli online consents portal, by mail or in person.

The application forms and process for applying for a staged or multi-proof consent, an amendment to a consent or a project information memorandum are the same.

Please note no action will be taken on your application until all the relevant documentation has been provided.

Register on the Simpli portal

The first time you use the Simpli portal you will need to register. To do this you will need a valid email address and a password. Please visit www.simpli.govt.nz to register. Once you have registered, you can apply for all building consents via the portal.

The Simpli portal is an initiative set up to make applying for building consents simpler and faster. This service offers a few exciting features including the ability to track the progress of your application, to collaborate with colleagues on applications and also to use the same information to apply to different councils.

Ensure your application form is correct and complete

The application form has a number of parts and it is important that all sections are completed. You will also be required to upload the documentation relevant to your project. Applications will not be accepted if any of the information is missing.

Make a payment

An invoice will be sent to you once we have accepted your application.

Form 2 – Building Consent (also application for Project Information Memorandum (PIM), Solid Fuel Burner, Staged Building Consent, Amendment to Building Consent, or Building Consent using a National Multiple-Use Approval (‘Multi-proof’).

At present there is still the option of applying for a building consent with a paper form. There will be additional charges for our staff to scan and submit these on your behalf. The charge for this service will vary depending on the size of the application being submitted, but will range from $75 to $225. Any printing costs will be additional.

Ensure your application form is correct and complete

Applications will not be accepted if any of the information is missing.

Submit your application

All parts of Form 2 (Building Consent application) are to be completed and submitted along with one copy of all required plans and supporting documents.

Application forms and supporting documentation should be posted to Gore District Council, 29 Bowler Avenue, P O Box 8, Gore, 9740.

Make a payment

An invoice will be sent to you once we have accepted your application.

Useful Forms

While we try to have all our consenting paperwork digital, there's times you need to go hard copy. We have made them editable though, which will be easier for customers. Here's some useful forms and charts.

Building-as-laid-drainage-plan: Use this form to submit your drainage plan on completion of building consented work.

Building Minor Variation: This is used for submitting minor variations to a building consent. Some changes to building work will require an amendment application, which can be applied for via Simpli.

Fire Fighting Water Supply Requirements

Builders, developers, and homeowners need to consider water storage for firefighting for new dwellings that do not have access to a sufficient reticulated water supply.

Building consent applications

For new dwellings not connected to a sufficient reticulated water supply, building consent applications must include a site/floor plan approved by FENZ.

Once approved, these documents are ready to be submitted with your building consent application.
