Lost Dogs
Please call us on 209-0330 to report a problem dog, or to chat to us about a lost dog/livestock in our care.
What happens if my dog is in the pound?
If your dog is lost, it may be in the pound. We impound straying dogs to ensure they don't get hurt by traffic or harm others.
If your dog has been impounded, you will need to pay the impounding fees at our main office before you pick it up. You can view our current animal management Fees & Charges here.
If your dog is not registered and gets impounded, you will need to pay the registration fee as well as any impoundment fees before we can release your dog.
We want to reunite dogs with their owners as quickly as possible. If you have any questions or concerns about our fees, please talk to the animal management team, phone 209-0330.
You must get your dog microchipped before we release it from the pound if:
- your dog is unregistered when it gets impounded or
- it has been impounded twice
If you don't pay the fees within seven days of your dog being impounded, we may adopt it out or euthanise it.
How do I report a roaming dog?
Our animal management team responds to dog attacks, aggressive dogs, and roaming livestock.
If you see a roaming dog, please call us on 209-0330 and provide as much information as you can.
You can also send us a report via our app Antenno. You can learn more about Antenno here.
It will help us if you can answer the following questions:
- What does the dog look like?
- What's the dog's behaviour: is it friendly or aggressive?
- Where did you last see the dog and what direction was it heading in?
- Do you know where the dog lives?
