Local Governance Statement
The Gore District Council's Local Government Statement provides information about the processes through which it engages with its residents, outlines how the Council makes decisions, and provides guidance about how citizens can influence those processes.
The Council's Governance Statement is required under section 40 of the Local Government Act 2002 and must be updated within six months following each triennial election. The Council may also update this Local Governance Statement at any other time.
The Local Government Statement includes information about the topics below:
- Functions, responsibilities and activities of the Council
- Local legislation effecting the Council
- Electoral System
- Governance structure and processes.
- The way elected members relate to each other and to the management of the Council
- Key policies of the local authority
- Public access to key individuals and official information.
In 2024, the Council agreed to an Enhanced Annual Plan, so the next Long Term Plan the Council will produce will be a 9-year-plan to be adopted by 30 June 2025.
